Celebrity Cover-up: Ginnifer Goodwin & Kelly Osbourne

While I realize that you have to take most (all) celebrities with a grain of sand, some surprisingly choose very modest and still adorable/hot/gorgeous/stunning outfits for the red carpet. We are so used to seeing them wear next to nothing, I thought I'd start highlighting those that are covered up.

I flipped through some red carpet arrivals for the 2012 People's Choice Awards and I've gotta say that I kept coming back to these two ladies.

Ginnifer Goodwin - currently, I love her in Once Upon a Time. She's such a good pick for current day Snow White. She was also great in Something Borrowed. Some people were saying the dress was hideous and looked like Joan Jetson...but I think it's adorable! The sleeves are cute and the cocktail dress length is perfect.

The second person, I am actually surpised that I liked her dress is Kelly Osbourne. I'm not a big fan of her but I was really digging the dress. Some articles said that it was too plain but I think that sometimes simple can be just right...and in this case, definitely so. While I'm not yet sure how I feel about the new grey-ish hair, the orange dress was a great choice.

Oh and did I mention that her shoes were to die for!?!

What do y'all think? Would you ever wear these dresses?!

My turn - Pinspiration

Last week, I found a blogger by the name of Rachel...by way of blog stalking. She is adorable and dresses fabulously. She posted this picture from Pinterest and then replicated the outfit here...because I had similar items, I thought I'd attempt it as well. Here's Rachel and her pinspiration photo:

And here's my outift from yesterday:

I had fun taking "my turn". I plan on finding more outfits I love and take my turn at wearing them!

Hope you enjoyed it.

Refashioned: In action

I wore my jumper turned dress yesterday to the movies. A friend and I saw Beauty and the Beast!! (I'll post about that later..) Yes, I am 23 and yes, I was beyond thrilled to see it! It's my all time favorite Disney movie! There are some classics that just never go out of style :)

Here are some pictures. I wore cream tights, a pink belt and my leopard flats. James said I looked like an old lady. I was flattered. :p

Why yes, we still have our Christmas tree up. Thanks for noticing. And no, we don't have any intention of taking it down soon. :)

Sunday Scripture Time #1

I had another scripture for Sunday Scripture Time but my Pastor preached a great message this morning using these two scriptures so I decided to share them instead.

Nahum 1:3 The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, and the LORD will by no means clear the guilty. His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. ESV

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. ESV

God is slow to deliver anger and judgment because he is so full of mercy and love. Instead of coming back quickly, He is allowing time for more people to know him. On the other hand though, those same scriptures also show that the perfect judge of this world will judge us in due time and he will find those guilty lacking. I am so thankful for this period of grace that he has provided us.

Cherish your solitude.

Cherish your solitude. Take trains by yourself to places you have never been. Sleep out alone under the stars. Learn how to drive a stick shift. Go so far away that you stop being afraid of not coming back. Say no when you don’t want to do something. Say yes if your instincts are strong, even if everyone around you disagrees. Decide whether you want to be liked or admired. Decide if fitting in is more important than finding out what you’re doing here. Believe in kissing.

Refashioned - Yes, yet another one.

Before:

I shortened the length & shortened the sleeves as well.

After:

I need a little more uh...stuffing upstairs and since I don't see that happening maybe I'll just try and make the top a little smaller. Okay, okay...much smaller! But who's counting...haha!

This is how I paired it today for work:
Brown Blazer.
Blue tights.
Leopard flats.
Red Clutch.

Later, loves.

PS: Again, sorry for poor pictures.
My 6 year old cousin and my 7 year old nephew took them. LOL!

Vulnerable (adjective)

Vulnerable - Exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally

There is something so strong about vulnerability, to willingly put yourself in a position where people are able to mistreat you time and time again, to trust even though you've been hurt, to love even though your heart's been bruised, to jump expecting that you'll be caught. I pray that I am always vulnerable, that I allow my walls to come down long enough to let people in close. That I don't allow past hurts and hiccups to keep me from experiencing all that's right here in front of me. The possibilities are endless and it might be wonderful...

There's only one way to find out.

JUMP.
The Fab Four

After reminding from my sister about these, here are some really great jumping pictures...and some really bad jumping pictures :D

This word will forever remind me of a song by Secondhand Serenade of the same name. John's voice is amazing. If you haven't heard it (or if you have, and you want to hear it again), click here.

Refashioned: Dress turned skirt

I think my sister bought this dress from K-Mart a while back. Love the pattern...not loving the cut and style on my body type. I tried tucking the straps in one day and wearing it as a skirt...ummm, not so cute because it was waaaaay too large. Yesterday, I decided to actually refashion it so it looked somewhat presentable.

Here's a before picture:

I removed the straps and kept them to the side. I knew that I wanted to use them for something but I wasn't sure what at this point. Once that was done, all that I had to do was take in the skirt so that it fit. (Yesterday, during this, I realized that I am terrible at measuring, partly because I don't have a measuring tape and partly because I'm far too lazy. LOL)

Here's the finished product:

Once I had the actual skirt done, I figured I could find something to do with the left-over straps. After staring at them for a good 5 mintues, I decided I wanted to do something with fringe since that's something I've been into lately. I cut up the straps and found a plain white t to use. I removed the v-neck collar (had I measured, I wouldn't have taken off so much...but that's just lessons learned, I guess). After a bit of sewing, here's what I had:

Once done, I found my cousin's shoes and took some pictures.

I actually wore this to work today. Minus the heels. Instead, I paired it with white flats that I own.

Overall, I like the outfit. I could have done without the shirt (and so could my sister, Alex....jerkface, lol) I'll have to keep thinking of ways to incorporate the fringe. Any ideas?

PS: please disregard the messy room. and cell phone pictures...again!
Hard to take pictures of yourself with a dead camera! Haha.

What we wore - Wednesday night church

Hey loves,

Here's a look at what my older sister, Alex and I wore today...well just tonight. I'm pretty positive that neither of us got dressed until right before we had to leave for church. The joys of working from home and working 4x10s with Wednesdays off. Haha.

This is another of the refashioned outfits from today. Granted I didn't do much...just shortened the hemline, but it did wonders for the outfit.

Enjoy. Hopefully next time, we'll have all four girls up here.

Refashioned: Floral jumpsuit.

Okay...today, I did a whole lot of sewing and not much else. Sewing, eating, bathroom breaks, church. I think that pretty much sums up my day.

Here's another one of those outfits that came from the "homeless people" mentioned in the last post. My sister picked this one out...While I would probably never wear the original outfit, I loved the fabric so I decided to make it into an dress. This is one of my first attempts at refashioning something and I LOVED it. Here are some pictures.

This first one is pre-refashion. I tried it on for fun and we couldn't stop laughing! Haha. (Oh, don't mind my third leg...my little sister is standing behind me. ha)

I really enjoyed this! Can't wait to start transforming all of my outfits...especially since, I started a Spending Fast (a la: And Then She Saved) with my sisters. So whenever I get the itch to buy new clothes, I'll just make some new clothes.  Win, win.

Sperry Plaid.

Here's a couple shots of what I wore today. I adore this jacket. I laugh every time someone asks where I got it because..uh, my mom is sort of in charge of the homeless ministry at their church in Albuquerque. People donate clothes to her and she washes them and organizes them. The church then hands them out to the homeless people. If my mom sees something that I'm sure to love, she sets it aside for me. This jacket being the best thing that she's ever found me. Haha.

They perfectly match the Sperry's that my older sister bought me for Christmas. They are so comfy!

Ps: Again, disregard the wrinkles in the clothes. There are worse things in the worlds :p

Pps: Uh, disregard the poor photo quality. I used my phone. Let's just say I was lazy bones today.
