Send Something Good link up

i'm participating in "Send Something Good" with over 160 other bloggers. I'm pretty excited. The basic gist is that you are given the name of a blogger that you now have to send a package to...with things you like, things you think they'd like, things you made, things from your hometown. The best part is that they don't know who has them and you don't know who has you! This should be fun.

In an effort to help our Secret Blogger out, we are all participating in a huge link up and putting some information about ourselves.

So here it goes (to my secret blogger, i hope this helps) :

1. i adore all things lace. and most things vintage.
2. i love frames and posters and pictures.
3. i collect spiderman memorabilia,  piggy banks and sock monkeys.
4. i really like quotes and poetry.
5. i'll read pretty much anything you hand me.
6. i have this thing for birds and trees. i think they're really cool.
7. i like accessorizing with belts, scarves, purses and headbands.
8. my favorite color is mustard yellow. and hot pink. and black.
9. i really like the chevron pattern.
10. i love stationary and cool pens.
11. i love receiving handwritten cards and letter.
12. breathe, i'm sure to love anything that you send!
13. thanks in advance! i can't wait to receive it!

Hacking up a lung.

My weekend, in between hacking up a lung...

I walked/ran in the March of Dimes walk on Saturday to help premature babies. It felt good to be apart of something bigger than myself, even if just for a little while.

Saturday night, I went took my cousins to a birthday party at Pump It Up. I think I had more fun than they did! Here are just a few pictures from the night. I need to start talking more pictures for my blog..oh well, maybe next time.

Me and my niece, Alanya

Me and my "twin" "sister", Liz
Me and Lulita!
Sunday, I went to AM and PM services at my church...and slept the rest of the day away.

Oh, I also finished my letter/package for my penpal via the Correspondence Club. My partner is Tracy over at Sunny Days and Starry Nights. I love writing letters and I love getting snail mail. Takes me back to when times were so much easier. Yes, I'm a little late on the mail date...the 15th shouldn't have fallen on a Sunday this month, lol! Sorry, Nnenna....and Tracy!

Well, that's all folks! I guess I'll leave you with a picture that my little sister posted on my Facebook wall today:

Think about it...

Summer fun - linkup

Every July for the past 4 years, I've been going to an all day concert in Denver, Colorado called Heavenfest. They usually have over 60 bands across different genres playing on about 8 different stages. People come from all over to attend this festival. I love that we're from different backgrounds and different states and different denominations but for one day, we put that all aside and just worship Jesus together.

It has definitely grown in the years that I've gone. It started with just me, my dad and my baby sister. It was one of the most exhausting and exhilarating days of my life though. They flew in from Albuquerque and me from San Antonio on Saturday morning, spent all day in the scorching sun and then had to kill time before our flights on Sunday morning. We headed to see GI Joe in the movies and my dad and I passed out, haha. After the movie was over, we spent the remaining hours sleeping on the floor in the airport.

The next year my older sister, my brother in law, my cousin and my self all drove up and met my dad and my baby sister. This year the venue was right on a lake so that's how we cooled off during the day. When the festival was over, we drove around for what seems like forever looking for a hotel room so that we could get a few hours of sleep before beginning the 16 hour drive back home.

This past year, we had the biggest group. We drove two cars and met my dad and little sister in CO. Thankfully, we hooked up with a family friend that lives in Cheyenne, WY which was only 30 minutes from the concert. We got there Friday so we had an extra day to hang out and relax before the concert. That also meant that we didn't need to drive around forever after looking for a place to stay.

One of my favorite things they have there is this HUGE chalkboard where people get to sign their names or write anything they'd like:

We are the Revolution.

the beauty of grace is it makes life not fair...

I am a little pencil in the hand of a God who is writing a letter of love to the world.

three little facts.

Body: Apparently, I have a Beyonce or J-Lo body that people would kill for...just ask my sister, she'll tell you. No matter how much I work out, my butt goes nowhere. My waist shrivels away but I guess the junk in the trunk is here to stay :D
Peeve: Rude people. I work on the phones quite a bit, so I often encounter rude people. It baffles me that way people speak to others. Like I'm sorry, I didn't realize that today God appointed you higher than everyone else. It takes hardly no effort at all to smile and be nice to someone. It just might make their day...or year!
Allergy: I’m allergic to working out? Haha but seriously, I just recently started running again and I got sick as a dog...proof that I am indeed allergic to working out and I must cease all harmful activity at once ;)

Little Facts

My first link up EVER - top 3 songs!

TOP THREE SONGS OF RIGHT NOW

1. What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction - If this song doesn't make you smile, I don't know what will, haha. These 5 foreigners are just so adorable. And I love knowing that they love when I flip my hair ;)

2. Warrior by Dominci Balli - A friend recently told me about this song because he knew that I had been going through some things. And it was just a perfect reminder of how great our God is. He is warrior that will fight our battles for us!

3. Hold You in My Arms by Ray LaMontagne - My goodness, there isn't a song by Ray that I don't like. His velvety perfection speaks to my soul...haha. I have often times wished for a man that would love me forever, that will hold me no matter how crazy this life gets...and this song says it perfectly.

Enjoy!

a merry-go-round

Lately, I feel like life is a merry-go-round:
Source
It's like a ride or game that just goes around and around and around and around and around and around and you get the point. It's all the same ol' same ol', nothing new under the sun. It's the ride you got on as a kid that your friends would spin so fast you felt like you were going to throw up. It's like I'm spinning or "moving" and yet I'm going nowhere at all. My life is the same that it was 1 year ago and 3 years ago, for that matter, plus or minus a couple things. Life goes through seasons and I get that...I get that life can't be mountain tops and rainbows all the time but this rut I'm in is a little bore some.

Source
I'm reminded of a song by The Eli Young Band called Guienevere. The chorus starts: For as much as she stumbled, she's running...For as much as she runs, she's still here...
After all I've been through, I'm still right here...it's like (yes, dramatic...but it's my blog so I guess I'm allowed to be a bit dramatic at times lol) :
Source
You ever get tired of fighting the same thing or the same person over and over again? You ever get tired of friends turning on you? You ever get tired of watching other people's life unfold while you're is still in the tending stage? Because that's where I'm at.

Source
I'm learning to be content with the little that I have instead of the great things that I want or feel called to have. I'm learning to be patient and trust that God has a story all written out just for me. I'm learning that friends will come and go, even the ones I thought would never leave. I'm learning that my life will continue without them just like it was before them. I am learning that God gave me ready-made friends in my sisters and cousins for a reason.

Source
I am learning that God is orchestrating wise people and trustworthy friends and a godly man into my life as he sees fits. I'm learning that my life isn't like others...it's not moving at the pace of others or to the beat of their drums because God has something different for me.
He's calling me to be set apart and different. And while, I don't yet know everything that he has for me...I have ideas, hints, dreams and hopes. I might not know exactly where he'll lead me but I know it'll be radically different from those around me.

Source
Different because I am learning that if I can be faithful through my mundane, merry-go-round season of life that eventually He will call the ride to a stop. He'll beckon me to come and He'll blow my mind with the perfect things that He'll have designed just for me; where there will be Boom Bands playing and where I'll move mountains ;)

So until that day, patiently I'll wait....

As of late.

For some reason, the idea of sitting and writing paragraphs is too taunting. So I bring you my first As of late post...bulletin style, baby! Haha:

  • I've been sick, sick as a dog since Saturday. Fever coming and going like that annoying ex-boyfriend we all have...cough that sounds really gross...just been really uncomfortable for days! Went to the nurse today, she said my vitals were perfect and she couldn't find anything wrong with me (and normally, I'd be happy about that, except I was still feeling like junk..) She said my throat looked a bit swollen so she prescribed me some antibiotics that will cover a numerous amount of afflictions (so let's hope what I have is covered lol). So here's to the next 10 days of me smelling like Penicillin! Yuck!
  • I talked to my parents on the phone today! They make me so happy. I can't wait to see them in just a couple weeks.
  • I started working out for THE MUD RUN. I'm going to die. I think they summed it up best on the event page:  "Some people come to COMPETE, but many come just to COMPLETE!" I'm looking forward to the sweat, tears and mud covered bodies!
  • I love the smell of Vanilla lately. My car, my body wash, my body spray all smells like that! Yumm :)
  • My TV fast is over on Easter. I can't believe it's been 40 and some change days already. I think I'll be rethinking a lot of my entertainment choices once we're there. Not completely shunning it but defnitely being a stickler about stuff lining up to the word of God, which is what I should have been doing in the first place but it's easy to get distracted.
  • Speaking of Easter...I bought an Easter outfit this year! It's this white maxi dress from JC Penney's. I love love love it...I haven't figured out what to accessorize with it yet but I can't wait to wear it! Any ideas are welcome?!
  • I joined a Correspondence Club a couple months back run by Nnenna! She does a great job organizing us and making sure we all have a writing partner. I'll be posting more about this later. If you want a ready made PenPal, join!! Email Nnenna, she's always looking for more girls to join.
  • I also signed up for a Spring Fling over with Erin at Sweetness Itself. It's just starting up but bascially, you'll be compiling a care package for your partner and they will be making one for you! You can read more about it and sign up, here!

Ok, this sick girl is exhausted and heading to bed (after writing a bunch of paragraphs that were "much too taunting"...See what we can accomplish when we aren't staring at that giant. Hey, that could preach a great sermon! I'll file that away :)

Good night, ladies!
