What's New?

  • My dad retired from the Air Force on 31Jan13 after 29+ years in!! It's so surreal. The ceremony was awesome and my whole family cried like babies. I'll do a whole post on this one in a couple days. Now, my family is preparing for my parents to head to Abu Dhabi for a job my dad got! He'll be making ridiculous money doing stuff that he's really good at...only downside is they'll be in the UAE...which is like a 24 hour flight away! :/ But anywho...like I said, another post soon!
  • I attended a Midnight Worship service last Friday night. It was one of the coolest things I've been to in a while. Their tagline is "Nothing good happens after midnight...except this!". It's just a bunch of college kids from a bunch of different churches and denominations coming together to worship God. And that talent was amazing as well! I'll definitely be there every week!
  • I went to a Yoga class tonight. It was fun...but sadly, I was probably the least flexible person in the class. Not counting the two guys that showed up. Looks like my goal of do the splits is further off than I had hoped. haha
  • I made a new page for my blog yesterday! Here is my bucket list for the year! It's got 31 (and counting) things that I want to have done by the end of the year!! I'm excited to cross things off!
  • Monday night, I went to a prayer meeting in town called Monday Night Burn. Another ones of those interdenominational things. When the guy leading opens up with "I speak in tongues..." you know it's going to be a good one. I'll probably start attending this one as well. It was really powerful...a bunch of people praying and interceding for the city of Abilene. Oh and the guy leading? Sings like an angel...haha but seriously. He wrote and sang a song with Christ for the Nations called Show Me Your Heart. Check him out.
  • One of my friends is coming to visit me this weekend. I'm so excited to show her around the big big town lol. She'll be the first person outside of family that has come to see me!! :)
Well, I'm off to watch Deception and then head to bed. Gotta wake up early and hit the gym!

Love y'all!

Happy 12th birthday, Daddy!

I thought since his birthday only comes around once every 4 years, this definitely warrants a blog post. Growing up, I thought it was the coolest thing that my father was born on a leap year and I'd tell anyone who would listen (not sure why I specified that as when I was growing up because I still do this today). We'd make fun of him because he was ONLY 10 or even 9 3/4 quarters. It's great being older than your dad. It's like, "No, you take out the trash...I'm older than you, young man!" hahaha ok, I've never said that to my father and probably would have gotten smacked had I, it but it sure would be funny to see someone ELSE try that on their parent. Anywho, I love the day so much that I want to have a kid on a leap year one year...uh prolly in 8 years, not 4. Haha ;)

Anywho I just wanted to dedicate a post to one of the best men that I have ever had the privilege to meet. I am so blessed to have a father as loving and kind as mine. He is funny and smart and crazy. He sings like a dream. He's been the best example of Christ that I've seen. He loves EVERYONE and really never meets a stranger. He is always giving and serving. He is forgiving and fair. He's a doting and caring husband (although, he spends too much money on Starbucks, which drives my mother nuts haha). He encourages me to reach for more. I can only one day hope to marry a man half as cool as my father :))

Here's my father and I, the last time I saw him about a month ago.

Boys, take lessons, please!

I posted this on my Facebook about a month ago, so I thought I'd share. My dad loved it. He printed it off and placed it in his Bible...(if there's one thing that goes with my dad everywhere, it's his Bible:)
Most girls would never say or admit that they want to marry a man like their father (and probably rightfully so)...I, on the other hand, would be remorseful if I didn't.

He puts gas in my car when he uses it, he pays for my meals, he opens doors for me and most importantly, he gives me piggy back rides :p He watches our favorite tv shows with me, he makes me laugh and then he laughs at my hilarious jokes! He even gets pedicures with me :) He helps me eat my Oreo Blizzard and then he helps me work-out. He serenades me, corrects me, respects me. He apologizes to me, believes in me and prays for me. He leads me forward by example, he doesn't pull me or drag me down. He realizes that I'm an emotional woman and he doesn't use that against me. He treats me like a princess and he tells me I'm beautiful. He out worships me and without a shadow of a doubt, he'd pick Jesus over me.

With more than just words, he shows me that he loves me..

Boys...take lessons, please!
I wish girls everywhere had fathers like mine.
